Dirty South BBQ Review

SeXXXy Mama’s Rub

So if you watch my show you know that I usually make my own rub. It is not that other rubs are not good, but I like to control the amount of heat and salt I put into food.

Being that I shop at the @tnmeatco I often see Dirty South BBQ rubs on the self, so I decided to try it out.

The guys there told me it was good with a nice kick, and you know me I love a good kick in my BBQ. So I am trying it out with a sweet and spicy sauce I make at home.

I start by putting some Dirty South Rub on some pork ribs I got at the TN Meat Co.

I place it in the fridge for 2 hours. Stick in the oven at 375 degrees for 30 min, while I prep for the BBQ Sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tbsps. Mikes Hot Honey
  • 1 tbsp. Dirty South BBQ Rub
  • 2 tbsps. apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsps. brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 shot Jesse James Honey Bourbon
  • Pepper, crushed red pepper, orange adobo to taste

Place your ingredients in your pan on a medium heat, mix together and let simmer, occasionally stirring so not to let it burn.

Remove the ribs from the oven and rub with BBQ sauce, place back in oven for 20 min. (May need longer depending on how many ribs)

Remove, rub more sauce on and serve.

So how did it come out? My kind of kick. the honey, brown sugar, honey bourbon adds a nice balance to the Dirty South BBQ Rub. Not too spicy, not to salty, and if you start with a small amount is a good change from most rubs. As always I tell you, start small and add more. Overall a 4 out of 5 rating.
